TARPON SPRINGS, FL — Pinellas County Emergency Management will join the Dream Center Adopt-a-Block's Saturday morning food pantry event to give free hurricane/hygiene kits to income-challenged residents in the Tarpon Springs area.

The drive-thru/walk-thru event will be held Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, 812 E. Tarpon Ave.

The kits include flashlights, batteries, can openers, toiletries and other items to help individuals and families prepare for hurricane season.

The kit contents were supplied by donations from the Salvation Army, the Juvenile Welfare Board, AARP and Recover Tampa Bay Initiative.

The Salvation Army is also providing five days of shelf-stable meals to residents in need.

Community partners, including The Chapel Community Church in Tarpon Springs, Rotary of Tarpon Springs, East Lake Citizens Emergency Response Team and other volunteers from faith-based and community organizations volunteered to assemble kits, assist during the event and provide other support.
