Tarpon Springs Public Art Committee Puts Out Call To Artists

TARPON SPRINGS, FL - The Tarpon Springs Public Art Committee is requesting submissions of art work for public display using a new technology.

Illuminated Art Boxes will be installed at the Sponge Docks and at additional sites in Tarpon Springs.

The art works selected will be displayed in the illuminated boxes from mid-September through April 30. The deadline to submit is Friday, Aug. 7.

The Tarpon Springs Public Art Committee is seeking new or existing works in any media including sculpture, photography, oils, etc...The size of the art box is 30 by 30 inches square. Art images can be vertical or horizontal.

Email a digital image with the name of the artist and title of the work to the Tarpon Springs Public Art Committee. The email should also include any art affiliations, an email address, phone number and address. A high-resolution photo should be available for printing if the art work is chosen. Images may be emailed to [email protected].

Images will be screened and selected by the PAC via blind judging with preference given to Tarpon Springs residents.

Artists will be paid a $100 honorarium for images chosen. The artist will retain the original work.

A brochure containing information about the art works in the illuminated art boxes will be printed in-house and made available at local businesses, city hall and the chamber of commerce.
