Winn-Dixie celebrates National Donut Day with free donut hole

Visit your neighborhood Winn-Dixie store on June 5 to get your free donut hole.

WHAT: To celebrate National Donut Day, your neighborhood Winn-Dixie is putting a sweet spin on a sugary holiday by offering customers a free powdered donut hole at their neighborhood in-store bakery (limit one per guest, per store visit, while supplies last).

WHY: To celebrate a 78-year tradition started in Chicago, Illinois, by the Salvation Army in 1938 to raise funds during the Great Depression.

National Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of June and commemorates the work of the “donut lassies,” who served fresh donuts to American soldiers (nicknamed “doughboys”) during World War I.
