Woman Stole More Than $750,000 From Homeowners Associations: Sheriff

A Tarpon Springs woman who worked as an account manager is accused of stealing money from 16 homeowners associations.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — More than a year after charging a Tarpon Springs woman with three counts of scheming to defraud three homeowners associations, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office detectives charged her with scheming to defraud 13 more homeowners associations on Monday.

Jamie Fonville, 47, of Wood Owl Street, Tarpon Springs, was originally arrested June 24, 2022, after being accused of depositing $228,300.83 into her personal bank account while employed as the accounting manager with First Choice Association Management.

Since Fonville's arrest, 13 additional victims came forward with claiming a total loss of $526,433.61 for a combined loss of $754,734.44.

According to detectives, Fonville was responsible for managing the bank accounts and issuing checks on behalf of First Choice Association Management for 58 homeowners associations.

Detectives said they were made aware of possible fraudulent activity in February 2022 by First Choice Association Management.

Through the course of the initial investigation, detectives said they discovered that Fonville created fake checks using the account information from three homeowners associations. Fonville then deposited the checks into her personal bank account and used the money for groceries, daily living expenses, Tampa Bay Buccaneers game tickets and credit card bills.
