Elk Grove Teens Orphaned As Dad Dies 4 Years After Mom: GoFundMe

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — It's been a sad few years for the Luna family, of Elk Grove Village. Four years after their mother died, three local teenagers are dealing with the loss of their father, Gustavo "Goose" Luna. He died from a heart attack on Monday.

"[He] leaves behind three beautiful teenage daughters," said David Reyes, Luna's cousin and the organizers of a GoFundMe campaign for the family. "Their mother also passed away years ago, leaving these poor girls with no parents and no one to turn to. I have no idea how my aunt will piece together money for a funeral, and the family deserves a proper burial."

Reyes said any donations will go directly toward funeral and burial costs, and will be "greatly appreciated." As of Friday afternoon, the GoFundMe has raised over $15,000 of a $20,000 goal.
