FRANKFORT, IL — A reported active shooter at a Frankfort store turned out to be a false alarm, according to police.

Officers responded Sunday morning to Home Depot in the 20000 block of LaGrange Road after receiving a report of an active shooter but found no disturbance at the business, police said shortly before 10:30 a.m. in a social media post.

“After a short investigation, we realized that this was an intentional false alarm,” according to police. “This is a trend known as ‘Swatting’ where an individual will report a serious incident that prompts an emergency response from police.”
