Fire Causes $50K In Damage To Frankfort Home: Fire District

The fire had burned up an exterior wall, and was burning in the attic when fire crews arrived, according to the district.

FRANKFORT, IL — A fire was reported at a home on Driftwood Drive at 4:47 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Frankfort Fire Protection District.

The occupants of the home were awoken by the smoke detectors, and neighbors were also alerting the residents to the fire, the fire district said. Everyone was able to exit the home uninjured.

The fire had burned up an exterior wall, and was burning in the attic when fire crews arrived, according to the district. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes.

As a precaution, the alarm was escalated to the "full still level," which started additional resources heading to the scene, the district said. Assistance with extinguishment was provided by the Manhattan, Mokena and New Lenox Fire Districts, and the Tinley Park Fire Department.

The initial damage estimate is believed to be between $40,000 and $50,000. The cause of the fire remains currently under investigation, the District said.
