Free School Supplies To Be Handed Out On North Side
The 46th Ward announced free backpacks and supplies for the first 150 kids to attend a back-to-school event this Saturday, Aug.18.
CHICAGO, IL — The 46th Ward will be hosting a back-to-school event at Gill Park this Saturday, Ald. James Cappleman announced. The first 150 kids to arrive at the event will receive free backpacks and school supplies, the alderman said. The event will also give out free children's books and free hot dogs and hamburgers.
Parents can also sign-up for the new CPS universal preschool program at the event. There will also be information about Park District fall programs and Girl Scouts.

- WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will also be a fire truck to tour at the event.

Another back-to-school event will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at Clarendon Park — 4501 N. Clarendon, Cappleman said. It will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
