These School Districts Have the Best Sports Programs in Illinois
The district with the No. 1 sports program in Illinois also has the best in the nation, according to Niche.
Niche assessed school districts to determine which districts had the best sports programs for their students, and it found 44 districts to be the best. The ranking was based on five factors:
- Survey responses (45 percent)
- Parent and student opinions about sports and fitness in the school district they currently or recently attend(ed). Includes 746,909 opinions about sports and fitness from 229,418 unique students, recent alumni, and parents. Minimum 7 unique respondents required at each district.
- Number of sports (20 percent)
- Number of interscholastic sports offered in the district (capped at 36).
- Female athletes (15 percent)
- Percentage of girls participating in an interscholastic sport.
- Male athletes (15 percent)
- Percentage of boys participating in an interscholastic sport.
- Expenses per student (5 percent)
- Total expenses divided by the total number of students.
