2Sisters Frozen Custard To Close Up Shop After Nearly 20 Years

Lisa and Pat Callaghan will not renew their lease in Midlothian, but they're hoping someone will come in and pick up where they leave off.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — A local spot loved for its sweet treats will soon shutter, as the owners prepare to move on to new adventures with the hope of passing this one on to someone else to carry on its legacy.

In six months, Oak Forest resident Lisa Callaghan and her husband Pat will close 2Sisters Frozen Custard, 4734 147th St. in Midlothian, after 19 years in business.

"We have met so many great customers and have loved sharing our creations with you," Lisa Callaghan wrote on the business' Facebook page.

"... we are ready to move on to our next adventure. We will not be renewing our lease. Our business will be for sale immediately. Everything you will need to will be here waiting for you."

First a joint venture between Callaghan and her sister Bev Thomas, the latter of the two retired several years ago, and it's been the married Callaghan pair running the show. The business first opened in Oak Forest in 2004, just a small orange awning and pop-in window next to SakeBob on 159th Street. They later moved to the Midlothian spot, where they've grown their following and enjoyed every minute.

"We really loved our customers!" Callaghan told Patch. "We are planning on moving out of Illinois eventually, and it just felt this was the right time to have someone else to carry on our legacy."
