OAK FOREST, IL — Taco Bell will soon make its return to Oak Forest, moving into the former Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The Oak Forest City Council on Jan. 9 approved the fast food taco brand opening in the space at 5301 W. 159th St.

"The building will be completely renovated to adhere to Taco Bell specifications and branding," City officials said Wednesday. "Site improvements include updated landscaping, a decorative monument sign, and new fencing along the residence to the south."

It will not be the chain's first appearance in Oak Forest; one was previously located at 6154 W 159th St. That building also previously housed Tino's Beef and Pasta, Mr. Burrito, DeLand's Beef, and Midwest Title. The building was eventually demolished, and built anew in its place was Advanced Solutions Family Dental, owned by Dr. Carly Paragas.

An opening date for the new Taco Bell location is not yet set, officials said.
