1 Hospitalized In Head-On Crash On Route 34: Oswego Police

The driver of the at-fault car was reaching to grab something in the car when he hit a vehicle stopped at a red light, police said.

OSWEGO, IL — One man, 38, was hospitalized after a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon in Oswego, police said.

The crash happened at 3:13 p.m. on Route 34 at the intersection with Kendall Point Drive. A Honda, driven by an 18-year-old man from Montgomery, collided with a Jeep, whose driver was a 38-year-old man from Somonauk, police said in Wednesday morning's blotter.

The driver of the Honda reached to grab something in the car while driving westbound on Route 34 when he struck the Jeep, Oswego Police Department spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch. The impacted car was stopped at a red light on Kendall Point Drive, waiting to turn westbound.

The Somonauk man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No citations were issued, Nevara said.

Westbound lanes on the state route were shut down for police's investigation and reopened just before 4 p.m.
