WHEATON, IL — Starting July 30, residents can get a petition to run for a position on the Wheaton City Council in 2025.

In total, four council member positions will be open, comprising the north, south, west and east districts in the city.

Below is the criteria to apply for one of the municipal positions:

  • Registered Wheaton voter who has lived in the city's corporate bounds for a year prior to the election
  • Follow election code protocol to file nonpartisan petitions that have been signed by registered voters who live in coinciding election district

Petitions can be picked up at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St. and must be filed at city hall between Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The consolidated election is set for April 1, 2025, with primaries slated for Feb. 25.
