WARRENVILLE, IL — A smoke alarm woke a Warrenville family early Wednesday, allowing them to safely escape a fire, along with their pets.

The alarm went off just before 12:45 a.m., according to a news release from the Warrenville Fire Protection District. When firefighters got to the scene, the home's occupants were already out of the residence.

A small fire was found in the home's attic close to a bathroom fan. It took crews about 10 minutes to put out the flames, according to fire officials.

The residents were able to return to their home after the blaze.
