Stunning Temperature Reported In Prince George's County

As a brutal polar blast freezes the Midwest, we're also seeing extreme lows in our region.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD -- They told us it would be cold this morning, and they weren't lying. Temperatures hovered around 8 degrees in Prince George's County -- and that's not factoring in the wind chill.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang published a map of the temperature readings throughout the D.C. region at 7 a.m. Thursday, and temperatures ranged from as low as -6 degrees to 10 degrees. So, believe it or not, we are on the warm end of the spectrum.

While these aren't records, they are easily the coldest of this winter season.

It will be a little better on Friday, but not much, with highs reaching into the 30s. Saturday and Sunday will bring some relief as temperatures get into the 40s and even into the 50s.

And then, the big warm-up begins next week, where we could see temperatures top 60 degrees.
