Arrests, Citations Made During Weekend Drunk Driving Crackdown

State Police targeted impaired drivers in Prince George's County over the Labor Day weekend, making arrests and issuing tickets.

Drivers in Prince George’s County were warned before Labor Day to “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and police made good on the threat.

The S.P.I.D.R.E. drunk driving enforcement team this weekend targeted the county, said Maryland State Police. The team arrested 20 impaired drivers and issued more than 120 citations. Five of those drivers arrested were repeat offenders.

Overall, Maryland State Police troopers made an estimated 8,075 traffic stops Sept. 4-7 statewide that resulted in 5,493 citations and 4,720 warnings.

Authorities say Maryland troopers made 126 drunk-driving arrests and 866 repair orders were issued for defective vehicle equipment.

The traffic enforcement efforts also led to criminal violations. Troopers made 65 arrests and an additional 75 wanted people were arrested on outstanding criminal warrants.
