Hot Grits, Baseball Bat Used in Attack: Police

A woman was charged with assault for pouring hot grits on a sleeping man, then hitting him with a bat, police say.

A sleeping man who was doused with hot grits by a woman suffered burns, authorities say, but that wasn’t the end of his troubles.

Prince George’s County Police say that once the victim sprang from his bed, Alexis Staton of Capitol Heights then hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

The incident happened July 31 in the 7000 block of Onyx Court in Capitol Heights.

The arrest warrant for Staton says that the victim left the house with burns on his body and a head wound.

Staton was charged Aug. 4 with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
