Would-Be Robber Killed in Fight with Target: Police

Prince George's County Police say a gravel pit worker struggled over a handgun with a suspect in Brandywine.

A would-be robber of a gravel pit worker is dead after the two men struggled over the suspect’s gun, authorities said.

Prince George’s County Police say Raheim Abdul Fenwick, 34, of Waldorf was found suffering from trauma to the upper body Tuesday night in the 17000 block of Bevard Road in Brandywine. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators allege that Fenwick – armed with a handgun -- approached an employee of a gravel pit and announced a robbery. The men struggled over the gun and Fenwick suffered fatal injuries; the worker had minor injuries associated with the fight.

Police they found a handgun at the scene, as well as other evidence.

The employee is cooperating with detectives. No criminal charges have been filed.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted Wednesday to determine Fenwick’s cause of death. Detectives are working with the State’s Attorney’s Office to review the case.
