MASSACHUSETTS — Welcome to Patch's weekly round up of edible food and restaurant news in Massachusetts, where we review openings, closings and more in the state's dining scene.

This week, the Boston Globe took a trip with locals who are supporting an effort to legalize psychedelic mushrooms — also known as "magic" mushrooms, or just "shrooms."

There's a possible ballot measure on the issue coming in 2024 — backers have collected more than 75,000 signatures — plus bills circulating in the state Legislature. Proponents have also been visiting key cities across the state to gain support for the movement. Psilocybin mushrooms are popular recreational drugs eaten with food or steeped in tea, but are also touted as a non-addictive treatment for mental health issues.

Wayside Inn On PBS

The historic Sudbury restaurant and inn will be featured on Sunday's episode of the Rhode Island PBS series "Treasures Inside The Museum." If you miss the episode, you can always take a drive down Route 20 to the inn and enjoy fare like Coow Woow, a colonial-era mixed drink, New England clam chowder and much more.
