BACK BAY, MA — Aperol, sparkling water, prosecco, plenty of ice and an orange slice.

The Aperol spritz is a simple beverage and, at least in the last few years of American cocktail culture, has become a frontrunner in the drink of the summer conversation on an annual basis.

At Porto in Boston's Back Bay, the spritz is again the drink of the summer.

Porto's patio seats up to 100 guests with an additional 10 patio bar seats, including seats under a retractable awning.

The summer patio season opens with a full menu of spritzes including their take on the classic Aperol. Others include the "Capri", featuring Kleos, elderflower and mint; the "Sorrento" with Citadelle Jardin d'Été gin and limoncello; and the "Praiano" with Lillet, Kina L'aéro D'Or, Italicus and sparkling rosé.

New for this year is Porto’s "Lemon Tree". If diners choose any four spritz cocktails they can get them in a lemon tree to sip from.

The patio is open starting at 5 p.m. from Tuesday through Saturday at Porto.
