Enjoy Comfort Food Downtown in Toms River

Downtown Toms River is taking an old event and turning it into something new: The Chili & Salsa Cook-off is becoming the Chili & Comfort Food Festival. Tons of food trucks offering delicious food, live entertainment, beer and wine garden, plus merchandise and handcraft vendors from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Free admission and free parking downtown during the event.

Or ... Eat Barbecue At Que by the Sea

Que by the Sea is happening Saturday and Sunday in Seaside Heights. The festival is being held on Grant Avenue from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Check out delicious barbecue from award-winning barbecue food trucks along with live entertainment hosted by Captain Jack of JerseyShoreCountry.com. There's also scheduled to be many arts and crafts vendors. The vendors and music schedule are on the Exit 82 website.

Watch a Paddleboard Race

SUP the River, a paddleboard race on the Toms River, is set for Saturday morning. It is co-hosted by the Ocean County College Foundation and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Toms River and is open to all levels of competition. This year's race will start and finish at the spectator-friendly Toms River Yacht Club, 1464 Riviera Ave., Toms River. Racers and fans will have a great view of the course and paddlers. There also will be a networking breakfast on the beautiful River Lady which will give those aboard a unique way to watch the race. All paddlers receive a T-shirt and paddler bag (limited in quantities and while supplies last). Pre-registered paddlers will receive first dibs! There will be food and drinks for purchase for all paddlers and spectators. Awards to top three finishers in each category and gender, and a kid-friendly short course to wrap up the races! Check-in and board drop-off starts at 7:30 a.m. and races begin at 9 a.m. Registration and event information is here. Board rental is available through Jersey Shore Mermaids.

Feast on Seafood at Festival of the Sea

The Festival of the Sea will line Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach with seafood and craft vendors and so much more from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday. There will be 250 craft vendors and local restaurants. Jenkinson's will close out the day with its final fireworks display of 2021.

Shop Community Yard Sales

There are community yard sales in Beachwood and in the Pine Lake Park section of Manchester on Saturday and Sunday. Bargain hunters who love to poke through other people's treasures for something that is perfect for their life or home will find dozens of homes participating.
