Brick's Kirsten Dunst Gets Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star (VIDEO)

Dunst lived in Brick until 1993 and has a long list of credits from "Interview with a Vampire" to "Spiderman" to "Hidden Figures."

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Long before she was starring beside Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in "Interview With A Vampire," Kirsten Dunst was taking dance lessons and attending school in Brick.

Dunst, who moved from Brick to Los Angeles with her mother when she was 11, has gone on to star in several other films, including "Spiderman" opposite Tobey Maguire, "Little Women," "Jumanji," and "Hidden Figures," on Thursday was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday.

Dunst, who was born at Point Pleasant Hospital in 1982, lived in the Herbertsville section of Brick with her parents until they separated in 1993. Her mother, Inez Rupprecht, owned an art gallery, and her father, Klaus Dunst, who is German, was a medical services executive, according to Dunst's IMdB biography.

She attended private schools — St. Paul's in Brick and later the Ranney School — while also appearing in commercials. Among her commercial credits was an appearance in a 1988 Campbell's Soup ad. (She's the "Broadway baby" blonde with the mass of curls.)

She also appears in an ad for the doll "Baby Uh-Oh," and talked about her childhood ad experiences in an appearance on a BBC talk show in 2016. A Yahoo compilation of Dunst commercials includes Pillsbury, Crayola, and the board game Double Trouble, all of which were filmed while she still lived in Brick.


Dunst has a lengthy list of acting credits, including a number of lead roles including "Bring It On," "The Virgin Suicides," "Drop Dead Gorgeous," and the the title role in "Marie Antoinette," and she had a supporting role in "Hidden Figures." She won the Best Actress Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for her performance as Justine in Lars von Trier's Melancholia (2011), according to IMdB. She currently is executive producer of the Showtime series "On Becoming a God in Central Florida."

Dunst, whose 15-month-old son Ennis and fiance Jesse Plemons appeared with her at the star unveiling, according to People magazine, recently stepped aside from plans to direct a film version of Sylvia Plath's "The Bell Jar," telling Entertainment Weekly that it was more of a commitment than she was willing to make at this point.

Brick Township residents who grew up in the area remember taking dance lessons with Dunst at Denise Daniele Dance Center and knew her grandmother who lived on Princeton Avenue. She attended St. Paul's Christian School and later Ranney School. She graduated from Notre Dame High School outside Los Angeles.
