Icy Forecast Prompts Delayed Opening Jan. 17 For Brick Schools

BRICK, NJ — Frigid temperatures that are expected to create icy conditions well into the morning commute have prompted a delayed opening again Wednesday for the Brick Township School District.

"Due to anticipated hazardous road conditions and icing in AM, Brick Schools will operate on a delayed opening schedule Wednesday, January 17th. This early notification is out of an abundance of caution and safety concerns, allowing parents/guardians to plan accordingly," the district announced.

The delayed opening means there will be no before-school care through the BEST program.

"Untreated water and slush will almost certainly become rock-hard by morning as temps drop well into the teens across most of the area tonight," the National Weather Service Mount Holly office said Tuesday evening. "In addition, winds will make it feel 10-15 degrees colder! Bundle up!"
