New Initiative Calls for Nation-Wide Performances of 12 Angry Men

12,000 Voices: 12 Angry Men Performed by 12 Impassioned Women presented Saturday, April 6 at 2 PM @ the Bishop Annex of Toms River Library

The 12,000 Voices campaign aims to empower voter registration by calling on women across the country to raise their voices—scripts in hand.

Lacey River Theatre group will do just that on Saturday, April 6 at 2 PM in the Bishop Building located next to the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library. The staged reading of Reginald Rose’s drama 12 Angry Men by the Lacey River Theatre group is part of the 12000 Voices National Initiative over the weekend of April 5-8, 2019 , where 1,000 community colleges, law schools, universities, high schools, community and regional theaters, and community centers will come together to perform and raise their voices as one.
Over this one weekend, women on stages across the country will read the play about the power one person can have when they speak with conviction in our judicial system.

12 Angry Men” was written in 1954 – 19 years before women were permitted to serve on juries in all 50 states…
This event is funded in part by the Toms River Friends of the Ocean County Library.
