"I’m amped to partner up with Discovery Channel to air 'Saltwater Underground with Nick Honachefsky' showcasing the prolific fisheries of New Jersey," Honachefsky said. "No other national fishing show brings the underground, edgy Jersey vibe of the angling community and I’m excited that viewers can view the unique fishing lifestyle across the country on such a revered platform as Discovery Channel."

"Saltwater Underground with Nick Honachefsky" explores the backwater bays, surf and ocean fishing grounds of New Jersey and the Northeast. From bluefin tuna to striped bass and blackfish, it showcases the fishing along with savory fish recipes to take home to the dinner table.

"For 25 years, I’ve been a professional sport fishing writer and editor, fishing in over 50 countries, yet my home waters in Jersey are lit up with opportunity," Honachefsky said.

"Not many people automatically think of New Jersey and the Northeast US when it comes to the best fishing in the US, and I’m set out to shine a light on the world-class fishing here," he said, "along with a few laughs from some real characters on the way. Wait until you see what we have in store.”

There will be special celebrity guest anglers, including rock star frontman guitarist Dean Ween of the band Ween, pro skateboarders Mike McGill and Bucky Lasek, professional chef Josh Dechellis and others.

"Fishing is, number one, about fun. I’d like to think viewers leave with a sense of passion and inspiration after seeing the episodes," he said.

Saltwater Underground is sponsored by Island X Lures, Savage Gear, Bubba, Shimano, Grundens, RonZ, Fisherman’s Supply and Grumpy’s Tackle.
