Parade For Brick Little League State Champions Postponed

Storms on Friday have forced the postponement of the celebration of the first state title in 30 years for Brick Little League.

BRICK, NJ — The parade to celebrate the New Jersey state championship won by the Brick Little League's 12-year-old All-Star team has been postponed due to the forecast for heavy rain Friday evening.

Officials with Brick Little League said the parade and the Home Run Derby that will follow have been moved to Saturday, and will honor the team that won the the first 12-year-old state championship in 30 years for the Brick Little League. The team played an abbreviated season due to the coronavirus pandemic, with just the district, section and state tournaments, after Little League International canceled the region tournaments and the Little League World Series. Brick's all-stars won their third straight District 18 championship, then took the Section 3 and state championships without losing a game.

The parade will leave about 6:20 p.m. from Emma Havens Young Elementary School, and will head east on Drum Point Road to Cherry Quay Road, then south on Cherry Quay Road to the Brick Little League complex.

After the celebration at the Little League complex, there will be a home run derby to follow on the Jersey Mike's Field.

There are eight players set to participate in the home run derby; they qualified by having hit a home run over the fence in a Minor/Major Division game this season or during the all-star games at the 10-year-old level through the 12-year-old level.
