Six Flags Again Extends Holiday In The Park Drive-Thru Experience

Whether you want to get out with your pets or your human family, the drive-thru is open for two more weeks, officials said.

JACKSON, NJ — Six Flags Great Adventure is keeping the holidays going a bit longer, extending its Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience for two weeks.

Through Jan. 17, people will be able to drive through the 140-acre theme park in what Six Flags has touted as one of the largest holiday drive-thru events in the Northeast.

It includes live entertainment and music as patrons drive through 12 differently themed areas of the park. Reservations are required for the drive-thru experience on Wednesday.

Six Flags officials said people have made the trip through the park with not only their human family members but their pets, too.

"Keeping pets warm and dry is important during these cold winter months. If you’re looking for a fun and safe activity that includes the companionship of your beloved pet, the entire family can drive through the theme park together," said Dr. Ken Keiffer, Six Flags' veterinarian.

"We loved being able to enjoy the lights with our dogs from the warmth of our car. Both of our dogs were mesmerized, one dog propped up on each of our laps gazing out the window," said AJ Nicholas, who brought his dogs Tucker and Leo along for the drive-thru. "Whenever we’re able to include our dogs in our activities, we jump at the opportunity, and so do they."

People brought dogs, cats and even a turtle through the park, officials said.

Admission tickets are available first-come, first-served and are sold per person for each night in advance, not at the gate. Pets are free. Admission is also free with active memberships and season passes. The event is held weather permitting.

Event requirements include use of masks if windows are down, no smoking, littering, stopping, or exiting vehicles. Due to the limited size of certain areas and terrain within the theme park, only cars, SUVs, vans, and pickup trucks are permitted. No buses, RVs, commercial vehicles, dually pickup trucks, trailers or motorcycles will be allowed. A maximum speed of 3 mph, and maintaining a safe distance between cars, is strictly enforced.
