SummerFest Concerts Rescheduled; Don't Miss Rubix Kube, Amish Outlaws

The summer concert series at Traders Cove is underway as well; come see the Basso Brothers Wednesday night.

BRICK, NJ — Stormy weather forced Brick Township officials to postpone the first two concerts of the SummerFest series this summer, but they've been rescheduled.

Rubix Kube was scheduled to perform at Brick's SummerFest at Windward Beach Park on July 6; that performance has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Aug. 23, and the Amish Outlaws, who were scheduled to play on July 15, have been rescheduled for Monday, Aug. 28.

Both of the rescheduled concerts will include the food truck vendors, the wine and beer garden and fireworks, officials said. SummerFest begins at 6 p.m. and the fireworks go off roughly at dark. Transportation to Windward Beach Park, where parking is limited, is available via shuttle bus from Brick Township High School, and Midstreams and Drum Point elementary schools. Parking on residential side streets along Princeton Avenue in the area surrounding Windward Beach is prohibited.

Rubix Kube co-founder David Z was killed in a highway crash in Florida in July but the band's publicist and manager said the band was committed to fulfilling its previously scheduled performances, including the SummerFest appearance.

In addition to the rescheduled SummerFest concerts, the free concert series at Traders Cove Marina is underway. On Wednesday, Aug. 9, (that's tonight) the Basso Brothers will perform. They are called "the ultimate acoustic classic rock duo."

The concert at Traders Cove begins at 7 p.m. and you should bring your own chairs and refreshments, the township Recreation Department says. Traders Cove Marina is located at 40 Mantoloking Road, not far from the Mantoloking Bridge.

Next Wednesday, Aug. 16, Traders Cove Marina will be the site for a free concert by Tim McLoone and the Shirleys. They will present "The Three Kings," celebrating the greatest hits of Ben E. King, Carole King and of course, The King himself, Elvis Presley.

The Traders Cove concerts are funded in part by a grant from the New Jersey Council on the Arts, administered by the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
