BRICK, NJ — The Brick Memorial football team will be aiming to keep its unbeaten season going Friday night when it hosts the semifinal of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 playoffs.

Brick Memorial is having its best season since 2015, when the Mustangs were 9-3 and reached the Central Jersey Group 4 title game before falling to Jackson Memorial.

The Mustangs (10-0) face Long Branch at 6 p.m. at Brick Memorial's field, 2001 Lanes Mill Road. The Green Wave (6-5) defeated Jackson Memorial in the opening round of the playoffs, 14-0. Brick Memorial opened the playoffs with a 41-7 over Moorestown.

Brick Memorial also completed its first undefeated regular season in team history when the Mustangs edged crosstown rival Brick, 19-14, on Oct. 20, when Nicco Maribo recovered a fumble and ran it in for a touchdown.

The unbeaten season follows a 6-5 finish in 2022 where the Mustangs reached the final round of the NJSIAA South Group 4 Regional Invitational Tournament, created in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
