$274K Grant Will Support Gloucester Twp's Community & Planning Efforts

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Community and planning efforts in Gloucester Township recently received a $274,327 in grant, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently said.

Specific uses of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program grant include addressing economic development needs, finding ways to overcome the lack of affordable housing and help managing the homeless, according to Alicka Ampry-Samuel, HUD's Regional Administrator for New York and New Jersey.

"These programs also enhance communities, aid local businesses, and provide funding for infrastructure maintenance like water and sewer systems," Ampry-Samuel added. "Most importantly, it is a vital resource for low and moderate-income residents who just need a hand up to support their families and improve their quality of life."

The grant Gloucester Township received is part of $177 million recently awarded to community planning and development activities in New Jersey, according to HUD. That $177 million is part of a nationwide grant allocation of $6.3 billion for such projects, according to HUD.
