Star Student Athlete Kira Celebrated For Volunteer Work, Academics, + Athletics

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

As a 5th grader, Kira has become such a positive role model for so many. Being on 3 Elite Soccer teams she has gained more self- esteem and confidence which is admired by so many of her teammates. Her passion in all the sports she plays, basketball, soccer and tumbling, prove that her leadership abilities show through. Playing level up/age up, you would never know this Elementary 10 yr old is amongst the Middle School 12 year olds, because of the poise and teamwork she displays. But sports isn’t her only dedication. As a straight A student through her Academics, she works extremely hard in school. She was elected to be on her school Safety Patrol and participated in her daily after school Book Club. She is an avid reading, Harry Potter being her all time favorite series. She’s recently is most proud when she was honored and received an award at her local Fire Department for the Community-Wide Fire Prevention Poster Contest, placing 2nd, she has also been award for Student of the Month at her school. While sports and academics are very important to her, she is a commitment Junior Girl Scout earning the most recent Bronze Award for building cat shelters for her local Animal Shelter. Selling hundreds of Girl Scouts cookies and volunteering her time have proven to help those animals while waiting for adoption. Kira should be recognized for her athleticism, academics, and voluntary community efforts, she goes above and beyond as a hidden hero.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

At such a young age, she shows exemplary leadership skills in everything she does impacting herself and many others in such a positive way.
