GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — You have the right to remain scented. A South Jersey police department is getting into the spirit of autumn, with a tongue-in-cheek post about "pumpkin spice" handcuffs.

Gloucester Township Police, in Camden County, said they would issue pumpkin spice handcuffs to any car burglars who take advantage of residents in the community.

"Everything this time of year is pumpkin spice- EVERYTHING," their Facebook post says.

Police in the township routinely remind residents to lock their cars, take their keys inside, and either remove or hide valuables at 9 p.m. each night. Car thefts are on the rise across the state, prompting state lawmakers to introduce legislation they say will give law enforcement new tools to fight “an epidemic of car thefts, often organized by gangs that prey on at-risk juveniles.”

"By participating in the 9 PM Routine, residents can help reduce the opportunity for vehicle burglaries and thefts," Gloucester Township police said.

Now, while we are pretty sure pumpkin spice handcuffs don't exist, there are some odd things with that flavor or scent. Take pumpkin spice deodorant, for example — or mix some pumpkin spice SPAM into your pumpkin spice ramen noodles.

In fact, one Instagram commenter said the maker of pumpkin spice ramen noodles “need to be ARRESTED.”

“SEND US STRAIGHT TO PUMPKIN JAIL,” the noodle maker responded in kind.

Well, Gloucester Township police have the perfect handcuffs for that kind of culinary crime.
