HOBOKEN, NJ — What should go at 9 Paterson Ave., in the southwest part of Hoboken? Soon, a small residential development will grow atop a cafe, facing a new park.

Among other matters (such as allowing tattoo parlors and setting bike share locations), the Hoboken City Council will vote on final approval for a development Wednesday.

Councilman Ruben Ramos said recently that originally, the 9 Paterson Avenue redevelopment was going to stand at more than 90 feet high, or up to nine stories. It has been scaled down.

"With significant public input from the neighborhood about concern that at that height the project would be out of scale with the neighborhood, we’ve successfully reduced the height almost 40 percent to 54 feet," Ramos said in his newsletter. "The project now consists of eight units and ground level retail (cafe) that will face the Southwest Park."

He noted, "The final City Council vote will take place at our July 12th City Council meeting where the public will have an opportunity to speak in favor or oppose the project at that meeting."

Also in that growing neighborhood, the city has been considering three plans to renovate the Multi-Service Center. All of the plans have a pool as a possibility.
