Livingston Resident Scares Off Would-Be Car Burglar: Police

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A homeowner who caught a car burglary in progress on video last week managed to scare off the suspect, Livingston police announced Tuesday.

The Livingston Police Department released the following details about the incident, which took place on March 6:

“At 11:44 p.m., Livingston officers responded to a Vista Drive residence after getting a report about a suspect who just entered a vehicle. Upon officers’ arrival, they were met by the homeowner, who advised they received a Ring video notification and observed a suspect inside their Audi Q7 parked in the driveway. The vehicle had been left unlocked and the actor was scared off when the homeowner yelled at him.”

The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the incident, authorities said.
