As the grass gets greener and the weather heats up in Livingston, it's a good time to brush up on the town's lawn watering restrictions.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — As the grass gets greener and the weather heats up in Livingston, it’s a good time to brush up on the town’s lawn watering restrictions.

Town officials recently released the 2019 municipal water quality report, which can be seen here. As part of the annual report, officials included a reminder about “lawn watering restrictions” in Livingston.

The following restrictions – which are enforceable year-round – are in accordance with town ordinance 19-2016.

WATERING SCHEDULE

Livingston properties may water their lawns three days per week.

  • Even addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
  • Odd addresses can water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Properties with no street address can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

SPRINKLERS

Use of a hose or hose-end sprinkler is allowed from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m., with a 30-minute maximum per area per day.

AUTO IRRIGATION SYSTEMS

Automatic conventional irrigation systems are allowed from midnight to 9 a.m.

  • Misting is allowed for a 15-minute maximum per area per day.
  • Rotary sprinklers can be used for a 50-minute maximum per area per day.
  • WaterSense-certified systems are exempt, officials said.
