MANASQUAN, NJ - A Cape May County mail carrier whose unoccupied car was found on the shoulder of Garden State Parkway in Wall on Sunday is still missing nearly one week later, authorities said, though new details have emerged regarding contact he had with law enforcement the night his car was found.

Corey McFadden, 33, was approached by Patrolman Quigley of the Manasqsuan Borough Police Department on Sunday night at around 9:50 p.m. as part of a welfare check, as McFadden was standing outside during a rainstorm near First Avenue and Riverside Drive, police said.

McFadden, who identified himself to the officer as “Corey Samuels,” refused assistance, a ride or use of Quigley’s phone. He added that he already had a ride coming to pick him up, police said.

Around 40 minutes later, McFadden was still at the intersection and again refused help from Quigley. He was last seen walking north on Third Avenue from Riverside Drive, police said.

It was only until Quigley recognized McFadden on Wednesday from a social media post from Wall police about his missing person status that Manasquan police became involved in the investigation, police said.

McFadden's father, Pat McFadden, told NJ.com that he left his cell phone and wallet at home before he went missing; his coworkers first reported him missing on Monday morning - the day after the Manasquan police officer encounter - after he didn't show up for work, the outlet reported.

McFadden is described as 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue pants, black shoes, facial hair and wire-framed glasses, Manasquan police said.

Wall Township police last week asked residents in the area of the Brice Park, Sandpiper Way, Shoreline Drive, Westside Drive, Allenwood Lakewood Road and Atlantic Avenue to check any residential security camera footage they may have; as of Friday, Manasquan police are advising residents and businesses east of the railroad tracks to check their security footage.

Those with any information about McFadden or his whereabouts are urged to contact Manasquan Detective Lt. Norcia at 732-223-1000 ext. 227, Wall Township Detective Shane Roland at 732-449-4500 or Lower Township Detective Black at 609-886-1619.
