5K Honors John Hogan, Former Manchester Scout Leader, Coach

The race, a fundraiser for the Whiting Boy Scout troop and for a scholarship, begins and ends at Harry Wright Lake; sign up now.

Whiting Boy Scout Troop 350 is hosting the second annual John Hogan Memorial 5K on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The race is a fundraiser to benefit the troop and provide a scholarship for a Manchester student interested in a career in law enforcement, organizers said. It celebrates the life of John Hogan, father, coach, scout leader and corrections officer.

The race will start and end at Harry Wright Lake in Whiting, taking a route through the streets of the Roosevelt City section of town. There will be awards for the top three male and top three female finishers as well as age group awards (Under 19, 20-39, 40-59, 60 and over), and awards for top law enforcement officers and top Scout finishers.

The race begins at 9 a.m. For information, email [email protected]. You can enter by sending a check for $30 payable to Troop 350 (sign up at jsrc.org under race calendar) and mail it to to Hogan5K, 1880 Delaware Ave., Whiting, NJ 08759.
