Dramatic Photos From Garage Fire In Middletown

This fire Thursday night in Leonardo consumed two cars parked in the garage, and started spreading to the second floor of the home.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — These are the dramatic photos from a garage fire last Thursday night in the Leonardo section of Middletown.

The fire broke out at 12:35 a.m. Friday, May 31 on the 80 block of Stillwell Road in the Leonardo section. The fire started in the garage, and consumed two vehicles parked there.

First Assistant Chief Daniel Kelly and Second Assistant Chief Kevin Morrissey arrived on location and requested back-up and an extra alarm due to the heavy fire conditions. The fire also started to spread to the second story of the home.

Under the direction of Chief of the Department William Kane Jr., approximately 46 firefighters responded Thursday night: Brevent Park, Leonardo Fire Company and Community Fire Company began an aggressive fire attack operation to knock down the fire. Additional units from Navesink Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Belford Engine Company, Belford Independent Fire Company and Middletown Fire Company No. 1 responded.

The fire was placed under control by command at 1:45 a.m.; all units cleared the scene at 4:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Marshall’s office, under the direction of Edward “Buddy” Skelly.

Port Monmouth First Aid Squad provided medical coverage during the incident. No injuries were reported.
