Man Sexually Assaulted Child Multiple Times, Morris Prosecutor Charges

The man, 65, faces multiple charges of aggravated sexual assault. Officials say he had sexual contact with the child for at least 2 years.

EAST HANOVER, NJ — A Morris County man faces multiple charges of aggravated sexual assault, after authorities accused him of performing sexual acts with a child over the course of two years.

Officials announced the charges against 65-year-old Gerardo Patrizio on Friday, alleging that he had sexual contact with the minor multiple times between March 2022 and March 2024.

The East Hanover resident is charged with three counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

"The incident remains under investigation and no further information will be released at this time," said Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll in a joint statement with MCPO Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and East Hanover Township Police Chief Christopher F. Cannizzo.

Officials ask anyone with information about this incident, or other potential incidents involving Patrizio, to call the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit at (973) 285-6200.

Patrizio is currently jailed at the Morris County Correctional Facility, pending further court proceedings.
