MERCER COUNTY, NJ – While we get some respite from thunderstorms, looks like the County will have to deal with some poor air quality.

The NJ Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert for Mercer County on Thursday, as smoke from the Canadian Wildfires is set to return.

An Air Quality Action day for Particulate Matter (PM2.5) has been declared and the levels of fine particulates will rise into the unhealthy category.

The air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive groups. Some people may experience health effects, while members of sensitive groups, including those with heart or lung disease, the elderly, and the young, may experience more serious health effects.

“All individuals should limit strenuous activities and the amount of time active outdoors especially in the afternoon hours,” the NJDEP said.
