2 Hurt After Fire Breaks Out On Bell Boulevard: FDNY

Two FDNY firefighters were hospitalized after battling a blaze that broke out midday Tuesday on the roof of a Bayside building.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Two FDNY firefighters were hospitalized after battling a blaze that broke out midday Tuesday on the roof of a Bayside building, according to an agency spokesperson.

The fire was reported about 12:45 p.m. at 43-23 Bell Blvd., a two-story commercial building, the FDNY said.

The building was most recently home to The Bell Club, a rebranded expansion of Extreme Muay Thai Kickboxing that opened in 2017.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames in under an hour, but the effort left two officers with injuries, according to the spokesperson.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
