Man Found Lying Badly Injured, Unconscious On Moriches Road: Police

Police are asking for information on how the Mastic man was hurt.

MORICHES, NY — A man was found lying unconscious and badly injured in the roadway in Moriches early Monday, police said.

Suffolk County police said the man, John Ballard, 30, of Mastic, was found about 4:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported that he was unconscious in the roadway. Major case unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding how Ballard ended up there, police said.

Ballard was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
