Man Found Unconscious On LI Road Dies, Was On Electric Skateboard: PD

MORICHES, NY — A man who was found unconscious in the roadway on Montauk Highway in Moriches on Monday died of his injuries on Wednesday, police said.

An investigation by major case unit detectives determined John Ballard, 30, of Mastic was operating an electric skateboard when he fell, causing his injuries.

Suffolk County police said Ballard was found about 4:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported that he was unconscious in the roadway.

Ballard was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries; he later died, police said.
