Girl, 3, Fatally Struck By Car While Crossing Harlem Street: NYPD

HARLEM, NYC — A 3-year-old girl crossing a Harlem street with an adult and two other children was struck and killed by a car Thursday evening, according to the NYPD.

The four were crossing Lenox Avenue and West 135th Street, close to Harlem Hospital, when, according to police, the 40-year-old driver of a Nissan Pathfinder made a left turn and struck the children around 7:40 p.m.

According to police, in addition to the 3-year-old girl who was fatally struck, a 2-year-old child and a woman were injured in the crash, with a 4-month-old baby also present at the scene.

The relationships between the woman and the three children were not clarified by the police.

Following the crash, the driver got out of the vehicle and rushed the girl to the hospital, where authorities later pronounced her dead.

An NYPD spokesperson said that the driver then returned to the scene and there were no immediate arrests made.

The crash is still under investigation.
