Suffolk Teen Killed After Motorcycle Crashes Into Tree: Police

A 2007 Honda motorcycle struck rumble strips on the edge of the roadway, causing him to lose control, Suffolk police said.

ROCKY POINT, NY — A Shirley teenager was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle in Rocky Point Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

Timothy Ross, 19, was driving a 2007 Honda motorcycle southbound on Rocky Point Yaphank Road, north of Whisky Road, when the motorcycle struck rumble strips on the edge of the roadway, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and crashed into a tree, just before 11 p.m., according to police.

Ross was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

His motorcycle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
