WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Westchester restaurants are earning an international reputation and the Michelin Guide has added two new restaurants and an iconic local favorite under new ownership to the latest NY edition.

Michelin announced that 14 new restaurants have been added to the 2023 Michelin Guide New York, and three of them are in Westchester. Restaurants that are added to the list are in the running for being awarded stars later in the year or being added to the list of Bib Gourmands, although neither is guaranteed.

The three latest Westchester restaurants to receive the honor are Town House in New Rochelle, Augustine's Salumeria in Mamaroneck, and La Crémaillère in Bedford.

Town House, 559 Main St., New Rochelle: "Contemporary, American"

"New Rochelle has stepped up its game with an enlivened dining scene and Town House is leading the charge. It's set within a three-floored historic building filled with unique touches including black-and-white mosaic-tiled flooring, comfortable booths and a wide bar. Chef Chris dos Reis delivers on the promise of American brasserie food with starters such as charred squid over a sunchoke-squid ink puree. An upcharge for the house made sourdough is worth every penny to sop up the delicious sauce. Elsewhere, pan con tomate is tired and ho-hum, but here it's impressively crisp, fluffy and tangy. Other menu highlights include beef tartare with pommes allumettes; tempura green beans with kimchi and togarashi; and steak au poivre with Szechuan notes."

The pedigree of Executive Chef Chris dos Reis will no doubt bring the foodies flocking, but it's his attention to the things that make his hometown special that will keep us coming back again and again. (Jeff Edwards/Patch)

Augustine's Salumeria, 213 Halstead Ave., Mamaroneck: "Contemporary, Italian"

"Chef and co-owner Marc Taxiera takes full advantage of the proximity to Westchester's top farmers and fish at Augustine's Salumeria, a full-fledged restaurant with a part-time counter proffering charcuterie and cheese. The space is laidback and modern, with a comfortable "neighborhood" vibe. There's plenty on this Italian-leaning locavore menu but the kitchen also offers a handful of nightly specials that will make choosing one oh-so-difficult. Mafalda never misses with its slow-stewed, grass-fed Longhorn beef resting over pasta topped with a goat milk ricotta. Sourced locally, the pork chop, paired with a pecan and onion ash, is wonderfully moist and grilled to perfection. End with something light and sweet like the cannoli made from freshly pressed pizzelle."

La Crémaillère, 46 Bedford-Banksville Rd., Bedford: "French, Classic French"

"Set within a farmhouse from the 1750s in the heart of verdant and well-heeled Bedford, La Crémaillère is ever so charming. The setting may be historic, but the crowd is a mix of power brokers, couples and locals. Chef Thomas Frank's kitchen has a clear reverence for ingredients and brings delicious balance to the fore with imagination and razor-sharp execution. A seasonal amuse bouche, perhaps an autumnal pumpkin velouté, is a terrific opening act. Risotto studded with creamy and tender mushrooms is laced with truffle butter for sinfully rich results. Saumon à l'oseille et beurre blanc is every bit the traditionalist, but the best is indeed saved for last here. Three soufflés are the standout signature, though the Paris-Brest tastes straight from France."
