Grand Central Oyster Bar to Participate in BC Oyster Tastings

The event on November 17 will feature Oyster Shucking Champion Shucker Paddy

To support New York City’s first-ever All-Canadian Oyster Festival being held on November 17th at Dock’s Restaurant, the British Columbia Seafood Festival invites New York oyster lovers to also savor and slurp oysters from the pristine, nutrient rich waters of British Columbia and meet international oyster shucking champion and Guinness Book World Record holder, Shucker Paddy. Two New York city venues are featuring British Columbia only oysters – Eats on Lex on Friday, November 16th and the Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant on Saturday, November 17th. The British Columbia oyster tastings will allow participants to meet local British Columbia oyster producers, sample delicious oysters from the pristine BC waters and obtain information about the upcoming 13th annual British Columbia Seafood Festival in June 2019, and learn to shuck with Shucker Paddy, Patrick McMurray.

“For someone new to BC Oysters, you’ll discover that West Coast species are milder in flavor with a delicate, buttery texture,” says Oyster Sommelier Shucker Paddy. “West Coast oysters are living in cool water, so they impart a beautiful fresh flavor from the retained natural liquor which is filtered sea water found inside the shell. Tasting West Coast oysters is an essential experience for true oyster lovers.”

Pacific Rim Oysters, Mac Oysters and Sawmill Bay Shellfish are featuring varieties of oysters from the waters of Comox Valley, British Columbia, the largest shellfish producing region in Western Canada. These ‘tide to table’ oyster producers have been harvesting the freshest, sustainable seafood for generations from glacier fed inlets which provide the perfect setting to farm superior oysters.
