Westchester Restaurants Awarded 2022 Michelin Stars and Bib Gourmands

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Hudson Valley restaurants are officially world-renowned, as the Michelin Guide releases its latest list of notable restaurants in New York.

As a teaser to the full announcement of all 125 Bib Gourmands and Michelin Star restaurants, the Michelin Guide New York announced a few weeks ago that it just added 18 new Bib Gourmands across the NYC area, and two of them are right here in Westchester. On Thursday evening, Michelin revealed the eagerly anticipated full list of New York's 125 Bib Gourmands and 73 restaurants with Michelin-Star status.

"New York's culinary landscape is definitely back on its feet, growing bigger and bigger, proposing more and more innovative offers, ready to achieve new challenges and to reach higher success," said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides. "We're also pleased to honor all restaurant teams for their hard work, resilience and unfailing creativity. With 465 restaurants in this 2022 selection, including no less than 62 different cuisine types, from Bib Gourmand to Starred eateries, we have absolutely no doubt that every food lover will find their own tailor-made gem and will experience not only a thrilling, fascinating and dynamic Big Apple, but also, a fabulously tasty one!"

Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown, the only Westchester restaurant on the Michelin stars list, maintained its two-star status. Two stars indicated "Excellent cooking, worth a detour!" Michelin inspectors also wrote "The tasting menu offered here echoes the farm’s seasonal best and might very well change the way you think about food. Culinary wunderkind Dan Barber has become a global icon for his zero-waste philosophy, which is expressed all the way down to the bone ash china gracing the tables and kitchen scraps transformed into charcoal. Meals begin with an onslaught of clever bites, mostly vegetables plucked from the property's greenhouses and working farm. The kitchen infuses even the most unlikely ingredients with magic, like zesty green gazpacho paired with surf clam and radicchio; or dry-aged golden beet "steak" adorned with beef-studded jus. A block of Stone Barns honey semifreddo with strawberry compote brings the kitchen's farm-to-fork mantra full circle."

The "Bibs" are restaurants that combine "good value and good quality cooking." Generally, two courses and a glass of wine or dessert would cost less than $49 before taxes and gratuity. Thanks in part to recent inflation, the amount has been increased this year from the previous $40.

"The array of cuisines represented in this 2022 selection is truly impressive," Poullennec said two weeks ago. "Our famously anonymous inspectors are pleased to add these fine restaurants to the Bib Gourmand category for New York."

• Rafele Rye, Rye
• Shiraz Kitchen & Wine Bar, Elmsford (temporarily closed)
• Southern Table Kitchen & Bar, Pleasantville
• The Cookery, Dobbs Ferry
• Tredici Social, Bronxville
• TVB by: Pax Romana, White Plains (NEW this year)
