Briarcliff’s Zimmerman a Shot Put State Champion

Jack Zimmerman set a new school record at the NYS Track and Field Championships.

Briarcliff High School’s Jack Zimmerman earned first place in the Division II final shot put competition at the New York State Track and Field Championships.

Zimmerman’s distance of 58 feet, 5.5 inches beat his previous personal record, and the school record, of 57 feet to earn the title of Division II state champion.

“Please join me in congratulating our state qualifying athletes on a fantastic spring track season,” said coach Wendi Bean. “Jack, Caroline [Pennacchio] and Ryan [Gallagher] all competed against the best athletes in the state, and many of the best athletes in the country, this Friday and Saturday in Syracuse.”

Gallagher earned an 11th place Division II finish in the 3200-meter championship with a time of 9:44:17; Pennacchio earned a ninth place Division II finish in the 3000-meter race and Zimmerman placed ninth in the discus Division II final.
