Fierce Table Tennis Competition In Pleasantville This Weekend

The Westchester August Open is the largest monthly table tennis tournament in North America, drawing top players from around the world.

From WTTC: This weekend is the WTTC's August Westchester Open. Prizes total more than $5,000, with $1,500 for first. Altogether 18 events, with cash awarded in every one. Newcomers are welcome. Sign-up can be done at the door on the day of the event.

The Westchester August Open, at the Westchester Table Tennis Center (WTTC), 175 Tompkins Ave., Pleasantville, NY, is the largest monthly table tennis tournament in North America, drawing top players from across the country and around the world. The open event, for the highest-rated players, starts Sunday, August 27, at 2pm. Tickets for spectators are $10 -- free for child (under 20) with paid adult.
The full list of events, with a link to the registration form, appear here. Spectators are free on Saturday. On Sunday the cost is $10 to watch, or free for a child accompanying a paid adult.

With 19 tables and professional playing conditions, the Westchester Table Tennis Center is one of the premier table tennis facilities in North America. It is owned by Will Shortz, crossword editor of The New York Times.
